About
While my main focus is on my patient's hair, I consider it critically important to be aware of the broad scope of medical research. The risk actually declined to baseline from month 3 to 6 in those who stopped therapy again. In two studies, it appears that the risk of heart events (heart attacks, etc) starts very soon following starting therapy. A review of a number of trials in predominantly older men also showed that men using testosterone had increased risk of cardiovascular problems. In fact, a small randomized trial of testosterone gel on muscle function in men 65 years of age or older was discontinued in because there were too many cardiovascular events in the group of men using testosterone.
After the hair transplantation procedure, following the recommended care instructions will contribute to successful results. Hair transplantation offers a reliable and long-term solution for individuals experiencing hair loss. It’s important to note that not all individuals with high levels of testosterone experience significant hair loss. Excessive levels of DHT can cause hair follicles to shrink, leading to a condition called miniaturization .
These products aim to reduce DHT levels at the source, potentially minimising systemic side effects. For those who prefer a more targeted approach, topical solutions such as finasteride or DHT-blocking shampoos can be applied directly to the scalp. Finasteride, commonly known as Propecia, is a prescription drug that blocks the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone into DHT. One of the most effective ways to manage DHT levels is through medication. While these hairs are likely to remain intact, the rest of your natural hair may still be vulnerable to hormonal changes. Transplanted hair is typically taken from the back or sides of the head – areas that are naturally resistant to DHT.
This has been referred to as a "Hippocratic wreath" and rarely progresses to complete baldness. As it progresses, a rim of hair at the sides and rear of the head remains. With younger males, studies found metabolic syndrome to be at approximately a 4× increased frequency, which is deemed clinically significant. Maximum 4–5 patients per day ensures personal attention for every case. Sule Hair Clinic is a boutique, doctor-led clinic — not a high-volume factory.
Dutasteride is approved for the treatment of male-pattern hair loss in Korea and Japan, but not in the United States. Treatment with finasteride more effectively treats male-pattern hair loss at the crown than male-pattern hair loss at the front of the head and temples. Further evaluation of the differential requires exclusion of other causes of hair loss, and assessing for the typical progressive hair loss pattern of androgenic alopecia. Supplementing eunuchs with testosterone during their second decade, for example, causes slow progression of androgenic alopecia over many years, while testosterone late in life causes rapid hair loss within a month. Male-pattern hair loss begins above the temples and at the vertex (calvaria) of the scalp. By the age of 50, pattern hair loss affects about half of males and a quarter of females. The consultation serves as the foundation of the entire treatment plan—a comprehensive, unhurried conversation about gender goals, hormone history, scalp health, and long-term hair loss progression.
